The Master of Arts in Business is designed specifically for non-business professionals who need to build business knowledge and skills to advance in their careers. Unlike the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree that is focused on building in-depth business expertise for aspiring business executives, the Master of Arts in Business will provide well-rounded business knowledge for professionals in the fields of healthcare, arts and design, architecture, criminal justice, education, information technology, construction management, food service, and many others. MA in Business Coursework

Comprised of 10-11 courses (30-33 semester credit hours), the Master of Arts in Business can be completed online, or in a hybrid 2+2 format that offers on-campus instruction and online study. The flexibility is yours.


 A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.000 is required to graduate. Earned "C" (2.000)
 or better in each course counts towards graduation.

Learning outcomes
The MA in Business is designed to be a well-rounded business degree program at the graduate level. Upon completion of the MA in Business degree program, students will be able to integrate, synthesize, and apply the principles and skills they have acquired during the degree program by:

  • Demonstrating the ability to evaluate financial statements and analyze a firm’s financial performance.
  • Creating and promoting a marketing brand that aligns with the organization’s strategic plans.
  • Demonstrating effective communication practices within an organization.
  • Defending and differentiating among legal decisions and ethical business arguments.
  • Managing the acquisition, application, and security of organizational knowledge.

Admission requirements
In order to be admitted to the MAB program, an applicant must have:

  • An undergraduate degree or higher from a college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission or one of the following regional associations: Middle States, New England, Northwest, Southern or Western.
  • A cumulative grade point average of a 2.750 or better on a 4.000 scale. 
    • Individuals with a cumulative grade point average lower than 2.750, but not below 2.000, will be considered for provisional admission.
  • A recommended minimum of two years professional work experience.

*Accreditation
The Master of Arts in Business program has been submitted to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for final approval. For additional information, contact the Higher Learning Commission at www.hlcommission.org or 312-263-0456. It is not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP requires new programs to be in place for two years and have graduates from the program before it will be reviewed for accreditation. As a new program, it will be reviewed in 2019 for specialized accreditation by the ACBSP.
